Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review, Price and Hardware performance

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is one of the new models of Note 10 smartphones. There are only three devices in the series, which cover a fairly wide price range. Recently, the Note 10 Pro version came to me for tests, and it will be discussed in the review.

The main features of Redmi Note 10 Pro are attractive design, AMOLED screen, good components and high performance. But, the gadget also has disadvantages.

Design and appearance

Redmi Note 10 Pro looks like it is made of glass and metal, but it is not. Yes, the front side is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, but the side frames are made of plastic. Nevertheless, outwardly, the smartphone does not seem cheap. The color of the tested device – “Onyx Gray” also looks pleasant, although many prints remain on the back cover.

The case is elongated vertically, which is why it is not always easy to reach the top of the screen with your finger. The glossy back is very slippery and will slide off your desk whenever you get it, so you need to be on the lookout. This problem can be partially solved with the included cover.

On the right side there is the main key and volume changes, a fingerprint scanner is built into the power button. The keys have good feedback, they don’t wobble or wobble. On the left you can find a slot for SIM-cards and microSD, it will fit one memory card and two SIMs at the same time.

Xiaomi Redmi in the new Note 10 series has applied a new solution regarding the view and location of the cameras of the main module. The lenses are on top of each other, it looks pretty interesting, although the module itself protrudes above the main surface.

AMOLED display

The 6.7-inch screen in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, although large, does not seem too huge. The black bezels around the display are noticeable, however acceptable, and there is a small hole for the front camera at the top center.

Full HD + resolution delivers highly detailed images when 394 ppi is sufficient for small text, icons, and web pages, all looking crisp and legible. Everything is fine with this AMOLED panel and with brightness, the maximum value reaches 1200 nits. The screen contrast of 4,500,000: 1 gives black shades a special depth, watching videos on YouTube and TV shows on Netflix is a pleasure.

The Note 10 Pro also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the value can be used with Full HD + resolution. At the same time, the touch response frequency is 240 Hz, which is great for fast-paced games.

Other important features of the panel in the Redmi Note 10 Pro include HDR 10 compliance, DCI-P3 color space support and SGS certification to protect the eyes from blue light.

Redmi Note 10 Pro cameras

Here at Redmi they decided to follow the example of Xiaomi, installing in addition to the main and wide-angle cameras a tele-macro lens, instead of a telephoto lens, like the Xiaomi Mi 11.

In general, the quality of shooting for this price segment is good, with focus and exposure still in order. But sometimes the results are underexposed, which leads to a loss of detail, and the colors come out a little faded, especially on the street.

The ultra-wide angle lens performs its basic functions well, but it also has problems. Even with the distortion correction turned on, they are slightly noticeable, for example, the horizon line may not be entirely straight. The 8MP resolution is not the greatest, so noise is often noticeable.

A macro lens is useful only in rare situations; when shooting at close range, you can optically bring the subject slightly closer so as not to photograph very close. If your hand doesn’t shake, your footage will be sharp, although getting the right exposure is tricky. The problem with macro photography is that you will often obstruct the light source. Limits the capabilities and resolution of 5MP, so it will be difficult to get a very high-quality picture.

The manufacturer also added a 2MP depth sensor to the Note 10 Pro, which is designed to help with portrait photography. In reality, it turns out to be really useful, since determining the boundaries of an object in the frame works great without cropping anything unnecessary. The blurring of the background is also implemented quite well, although sometimes it seems a little unnatural.

Selfie lovers will definitely be satisfied with the Redmi Note 10 Pro. Photos from the front camera have high detail and rich hues. However, portraits from the front camera are noticeably inferior to a similar mode on the main lens, and the definition of boundaries is sometimes not entirely accurate.

There are many shooting modes available in the Xiaomi Redmi camera app. There is a night mode, shooting in 108-MP, short videos, panorama, document scanning, vlogs, slow-mo, time-lapse, long exposure and a number of others. There are also several modes for video, when the video itself can be shot in 4K / 30 fps resolution. The overall quality is high, although the detail is inferior to more expensive smartphones with shooting capabilities at 60 fps.

Component performance

The Redmi Note 10 Pro smartphone has a mid-range processor from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 732G, which was released back in August 2020. This is an improved version of the 730G with higher core frequency and graphics performance.

In terms of benchmarks, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro did not allow me to use the standard benchmark apps available on the Play Store like Geekbench and 3DMark. I ran Speed Test G, which runs a series of 11 benchmarks to measure CPU and GPU performance.

The monitored phone showed an average result of 2 minutes 35 seconds. To understand whether this is a lot or a little: OnePlus Nord with Snapdragon 765G passed this test in about 2 minutes 26 seconds, and Google Pixel 4a with Snapdragon 730 – in 2 minutes 38 seconds.

Battery autonomy

One of the best aspects of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is its battery life. A 5,020mAh battery, Snapdragon 732G processor and Full HD + display are not a bad combination. With a refresh rate of 60 Hz, the device can easily work for a day and a half. Of course, when you turn on 120 Hz, the indicator will decrease, but you can still count on at least a day.

Outcome

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro does not have any obvious flaws, the smartphone attracts not only with its design, but also with good characteristics, for a relatively reasonable price.

We get stereo speakers, support for two SIM cards and microSD at the same time, as well as a headphone jack. The colorful AMOLED display is covered with a durable Gorilla Glass 5 protective glass, there is a self-contained battery, and it charges 33W faster than the Redmi Note 9 Pro. On the other hand, the cameras here are worse than those of the Pixel 4a.
