Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G Price: Poco 5G Smartphone review and Specifications

Poco M3 Pro 5G is another 5G smartphone in the budget segment. The model can boast not only a fast connection to a new generation mobile network. There is also a 6.5-inch LCD display, a Dimensity 700 processor with 4/6 GB of RAM and a 5000 mAh battery.

In terms of features, the new M3 Pro 5G is very similar to the Redmi Note 10 5G, in fact, the main differences between them are only in design. In all other respects, these devices are practically the same. However, an important advantage of Poco is that it is cheaper, it is one of the most successful smartphones.

Design and appearance

Let the Poco M3 Pro 5G use the components of the Redmi Note 10 5G, outwardly both smartphones are noticeably different.

The Poco device looks more “expensive” thanks to the glossy back panel. It looks like it is made of glass, although in reality it is plastic. The main cameras are located inside the black area of the rear panel, in the upper left corner. Below them is a huge Poco sign with the campaign slogan.

The design of the M3 Pro 5G is pretty nice and good, although there are a lot of smudges and prints on the back. The flat screen is covered with Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass, there is a hole for the front camera at the top center. Above the display, you can see the earpiece, and near – one of the ambient light sensors. There is no notification LED here.

Another ambient light sensor is hidden under the flash, in the camera module. The module itself practically does not protrude, so the smartphone lies securely on the table. There is only a SIM card slot on the left side edge of the case. On the right – the power and volume buttons, the first also serves as a fingerprint scanner. The scanner works on touch, which is not always convenient – however, you can make it so that your fingerprints are read only when you press.

On the top of the smartphone, you’ll find a headphone jack, another microphone, and an infrared port. Below is the USB-C port, main microphone and speaker. Unfortunately, you won’t get stereo sound here. The dimensions of the case are 16.2 × 7.5 × 0.89 cm, and the weight is 190 grams.

There is no protection according to the IP standard – not even from splashes, and here this is the only complaint about the device. Otherwise, Poco’s M3 Pro 5G seems more expensive than it actually is.

Smartphone screen

In the Poco M3 Pro 5G smartphone, we get an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 6.5 inches and a resolution of Full HD +.

The aspect ratio is 20: 9, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and the smooth animations are provided by a frequency of 90 Hz. MIUI gives you a choice of setting the frequency: 90 Hz or 60 Hz. The first is dynamic and changes the value according to what is shown on the display.

According to the manufacturer, the panel’s contrast is 1500: 1. The brightness reaches 410 nits with manual settings, and 530 nits with automatic mode. The minimum value drops to 1.3 nits, which is comfortable when used in complete darkness.

MIUI has three color profiles to choose from, each of which almost completely covers the sRGB space. In “Automatic” there is a shift towards blue tones – the colors are not very accurate, but bright. Roughly the same can be said about the “Saturated” profile. However, the “Standard” display mode turns out to be the most accurate – the average deltaE is only 1.9.

In addition, the M3 Pro 5G has support for Widevine L1 DRM technology. You will be able to watch videos from streaming services in maximum quality.

Poco M3 Pro 5G Cameras

On the back of the M3 Pro 5G are three cameras: a 48MP main camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the right is an LED flash. The front camera shoots in 8MP resolution.

Photos from the primary sensor are saved at 12MP by default. For an entry-level smartphone, the picture quality is excellent. The detail is high, the boundaries are clear when there is almost no noise. Natural colors with a wide dynamic range.

In the application, you can enable the mode AIthough not overly impressive. The function is designed to determine different compositions of the frame: buildings, sky, nature, cars, animals, etc., and then improve the quality. In fact, there is only an increase in contrast to an unnatural level, as well as oversaturation of shades.

A 48MP shooting mode is also available here, however, the final results are hardly worth wasting memory space. Its only advantage is more natural colors, because there is almost no post-processing here.

The M3 Pro 5G also has a 2-megapixel monochrome camera, which acts as a depth sensor. Probably thanks to her, the separation of the foreground and background is performed so well. A 2MP macro lens also does pretty well, although you need to find the right distance to your subject. The focus is fixed – about 5 cm, to get a good shot, you have to take 5-10 frames.

As an operating system, the Poco M3 Pro 5G smartphone uses Android 11 with the MIUI 12 shell from Xiaomi. The interface is not overly heavy, and offers a lot of stock Android options.

Home screens are filled with familiar widgets and icons, the far left is the Google feed. There is no always-on mode support, as well as Superboy. MIUI 12 introduces an app drawer that cannot be disabled. Apps are automatically grouped into categories: Everything, Communication, Entertainment, Photo, Tools, New and Business. They can be edited or disabled.
