New generations of cell phones are no longer presented every year as a single device, but mostly as a series with differently equipped variants. Xiaomi also offers three smartphones in the new T series. In addition to the Pro version, there are two other models that we will compare below: Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite vs. Xiaomi Mi 10T.

Data comparison Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite vs. Xiaomi Mi 10T

As the name might suggest, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is the cheapest model with an introductory price of 57,000 pkr for the 128 GB version. The Xiaomi 10T is better equipped, but also costs 90,000 pkr at market launch.

Design and display: a fight with Hertz

Lying next to each other, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and the more expensive Mi 10T look very similar. Both smartphones have a 6.67-inch IPS display that has a resolution of Full HD Plus and 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Only the small punch-hole front camera is positioned in the middle of the Mi 10T Lite and not in the upper left corner.

A closer look shows that both displays can show content with a high refresh rate. While the Lite model can display up to 120 images per second, the Mi 10T even manages 144 Hertz. Both values are above average compared to the competition with 60 or 90 Hz.

The general design of smartphones is also largely the same. The front offers a huge display with thin bezels. The back, like the front, is made of Gorilla Glass 5. In the cheaper model, Xiaomi uses plastic for the frame, while the Mi 10T is made of aluminum. The fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button is also located there.

Performance: mid-range or high-end processor

The difference in price between the smartphones is particularly evident on the inside. The Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite works with the Snapdragon 750G from Qualcomm, an eight-core mid-range processor. The Mi 10T can boast here with the high-performance Snapdragon 865 CPU.

The performance deficit of the Lite variant is not noticeable in everyday life, but when it comes to computing-intensive tasks such as demanding gaming or video editing, the octa-core processor in the Mi 10T is clearly ahead. For smooth multitasking, both devices can fall back on 6 GB of RAM. 5G connections are also no problem for the entire 10T series.

Camera: It doesn’t depend on the number

If you judge the cameras by their number, the Mi 10T Lite convinces with four sensors, while the Mi 10T can only come up with three lenses. If you value photography, the standard model is still the better choice. The identical 64-megapixel main sensor still guarantees images that are the same.

With a higher-resolution 13-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel macro lens, the Mi 10T ultimately overtakes the Lite version. The hill at the back only houses an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The fourth lens in the bundle provides additional depth information and cannot be used separately. Video recordings succeed on the Mi 10T Lite in 4K resolution, the Mi 10T manages up to 8K with 30 frames per second.

If you mainly take selfies, the 20-megapixel front camera of the Mi 10T should also take more detailed photos. The Lite model has a 16-megapixel camera for your portrait photos.

Battery and memory: large reserves in minutes

128 GB of internal memory provide enough space for both phones to store pictures, videos and apps. If you want to save a bit, the Lite version is also available with only 64 GB, but space problems could arise here in the long run if you do not transfer files to a suitable microSD card in the hybrid SIM slot. With the Mi 10T, the 128 GB cannot be subsequently increased.

Large batteries provide both smartphones with enough power for at least one day. The Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite should achieve a similar battery life as the Mi 10T with the larger 5,000 mAh battery due to the lower refresh rate of the display, with the slightly shorter 4,820 mAh. If you urgently need electricity, the Xiaomi phones can also be recharged in a very short time using the 33-watt quick charge function. However, the batteries cannot be refilled wirelessly.

Conclusion: the crux of the camera and performance

Both smartphones of the 10T series can convince with many features and a typical Xiaomi strong price-performance ratio. When deciding between the slightly stripped-down Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and the more expensive standard model Xiaomi Mi 10T, the processor performance and the camera resolution are the most important factors.

The difference between a 120 and 144 Hertz display should hardly be noticeable for most users. If you use your smartphone primarily for gaming and want the best possible image quality not only with the main but also with the additional cameras, the Mi 10T is the better choice. If a solid processor that can handle occasional gaming and a strong main camera are sufficient, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite offers a comparable experience for less money.
