Flagship killer Xiaomi brings with the Mi 10 Pro a high-end smartphone at a fair price. Here we show you whether the device can keep up with the flagship model of the industry leader: Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro vs. Galaxy S20 Plus – the comparison.

Xiaomi’s new masterpiece is that. The Mi 10 Pro scores with a 5G modem, high-end camera and a top processor. But can Samsung’s current 5G flagship hold its own? We’ll find out here. Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro vs. Galaxy S20 Plus: the comparison of androids.

Display and design: punch-hole aesthetics of their own kind

Both manufacturers have given their current flagship devices high-quality, almost borderless and high-resolution screens that use similar technology, but differ slightly in appearance. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels at 386 ppi, bulges over the sides and guarantees borderlessness with a punch hole on the left edge of the screen. Samsung goes one step further and equips the Galaxy S20 Plus with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display that has a razor-sharp 3,200 x 1,440 pixels at 523 ppi.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro vs. Galaxy S20 Plus: display and design

Samsung’s flagship also bulges over the sides and has a punch hole, which is however placed in the middle and gives the smartphone a striking look. Without question, both deliver high-contrast and colorful images as well as an exquisite user experience. Nevertheless, Samsung has better values in most areas. This can be seen particularly clearly in the refresh rate: Here Samsung drives the Galaxy S20 Plus at a tremendous 120 Hz, thus guaranteeing smooth image output that is second to none. Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Pro cannot keep up with its above-average 90 Hz. However, considering the price differences between the two top devices, one has to ask whether such details that are barely visible to the naked eye are worth the additional cost.

Battery and power: the long-winded power showers

Both the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus are high performers with top processors and enormous 4,500 mAh batteries. In terms of performance and endurance, both don’t take much. The Mi 10 Pro is equipped with the Snapdragon 865, the current Octacore Superchip from Qualcomm, which clocks at up to 2.84 GHz and uses 8 GB of RAM. Internal memory is generously sized at 256 GB, but cannot be upgraded.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro vs. Galaxy S20 Plus: performance

Samsung’s in-house Octacore processor, the Exynos 990, works with a maximum frequency of 2.73 GHz, but uses 8 or 12 GB of RAM depending on the version. The S20 Plus also has an ace up its sleeve when it comes to internal storage. Although the device only has 128 GB storage capacity, it can be expanded by a further 1 TB via microSD. Practical tests will have to show which smartphone has the edge in the performance category, but it is clear that both devices work very quickly and smoothly. Users will hardly notice any differences in performance in everyday life.

Camera equipment: The battle of the high resolution

Photo performance is the big highlight on both smartphones. Both the Mi 10 Pro and the Galaxy S20 Plus deliver razor-sharp and colorful images in every everyday situation and under all lighting conditions.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro scores with a quad cam that has a 108 megapixel main sensor with f / 1.69 aperture, a 20 megapixel ultra-angle sensor with f / 2.2 aperture, and a 12 megapixel telesensor with f / 2.0 Aperture and an additional 8 megapixel telesensor with f / 2.0 aperture. On top comes a tenfold hybrid and a fiftyfold digital zoom. There is also a 20 megapixel selfie camera on the front. This setup can keep up with any flagship from the major manufacturers – even with the high-quality features of the Galaxy S20 Plus.

Samsung’s current flagship model is also equipped with a quad camera that uses a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f / 1.8 aperture, a 64-megapixel tele sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and a ToF sensor. In addition there is a triple optical and a thirty times digital zoom. No camera fan can complain with this equipment. The photo performance is therefore certainly not a reason to decide against one of the two high-end devices.

Conclusion: Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro vs. Galaxy S20 Plus – powerful and future-proof

Neither the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro nor the Galaxy S20 Plus leave anything behind: Both smartphones are technically sophisticated, fast and powerful and score with one of the best cameras on the market. There are small differences that do not really catch the eye. One of these was usually the price in the past: But here Xiaomi caught up with the Mi 10 Pro and can easily keep up with Samsung’s flagship in terms of costs. Another is the 5G option. While Xiaomi installs the 5G modem as standard, Samsung has the 5G option a bit expensive.
