FIA traces 52 travel agents involved in registering smuggled smartphones
More than 5000 mobile phones were registered under Umra pilgrims’ data
FIA has traced more than fifty travel agents who were involved in registering smuggled smartphones. The cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation agency was tracking the illegal mobile phone registration mafia and a big breakthrough came when it was revealed that travel agents were also involved in sharing data of Umrah pilgrims.
According to the details, the passport number and other personal details of the passengers used to share with smugglers where they registered illegally imported devices with pta device verification system.
FIA has also arrested more than 8 people who were practicing illegal pta mobile phone registration online.

Since pta device verification system has been introduced, FBR was receiving complaints against illegal pta mobile verification. In the beginning, PTA officials denied such allegations, but after the recent FIA investigation shows that more big numbers are ahead to trace yet.
