Supreme Court suspends service charges on mobile cards

Prepaid users will get Rs88.9 instead of Rs76.94

Following Supreme Court of Pakistan orders, telecom companies have started removing service and maintenance charges on prepaid mobile cards and easy load. The honorable SC judges ordered relevant authorities to abolish 10 percent service charges on 100 rupee card. So, only 12 percent advance income tax will sustain only. Now, phone customers will be having 88 rupee charge on 100 rupee card or easy load.

Last year, Retired Chief Justice Ch Saqib Nisar took a suo motu against extreme taxes on mobile cards. He abolished unnecessary taxes for both prepaid and postpaid customer. It gave a massive relief to Pakistani People. For few months it continued and concerned authorities were ordered to prepare a fair tax plan on mobile cards. Later, on his retirement, Supreme Court of Pakistan restores all taxes on mobile cards in April, 2018. This decision was taken in favor of the state because it was unable to collect huge revenue from telecom sector.

A petition was filed in Apex court to suspend service charges on mobile phone credit cards and easyload for prepaid customers.
