Sony PlayStation Complete Review: Ps5 Performance, Price & specs
Sony PlayStation 5 Price in Pakistan: 200000
The new Sony PlayStation 5 arrived, literally destroying my worn out PS4 Pro. Is she making noise? No. Is it fast? Oh yeah. Is it getting warm? No. Does it consume a lot of electricity? Moderately. But most importantly, it clearly shows what the next generation PS5 means. I invite you to check out the best Sony gaming console in my review. With bated breath, I was waiting for this premiere. Not only because I’ve witnessed the next generation of consoles again, but also because I have feelings for the PlayStation. Sony consoles have fascinated my imagination for almost 25 years.
I remember how it all started when I was able to buy my first PlayStation. I also remember the nights, missed exams, the excitement of playing new games, and the nervous anticipation of Sony’s next generation. I do not regret this time. For a quarter of a century, the PlayStation not only gave me a lot of pleasure, but also helped me get through difficult moments in life, allowing me to break away from the gray reality for a moment.
This is probably why I have the fondest memories of the PlayStation 4 Pro console, as it helped me discover how many seemingly small details like adding HDR support can be brought into a game to suddenly play in a new way. And that’s exactly what I expected from the PlayStation 5. In the end, the revolution was going to happen. This question not only worried me, but also prompted me to think about buying a new console. Unfortunately, I was unable to make a reservation. Fortunately, due to chance, the new console still fell into my hands.
As soon as I took my PS5 controller in my sweaty hands, I disappeared from the world for almost a week. The best thing about the new generation is that there are so many changes, improvements and fixes in the new generation that I feel again, I am 16 years old and I play with the first PlayStation.
Sony PlayStation 5 – As a next generation console
This time, Sony has a lot of new things in store for us – from the unusual shape of the PS5 to a completely reorganized and significantly improved interface.
As for the PlayStation 5 review, I decided to approach it a little differently, pointing out what fascinated me most and, a little annoyed. However, don’t worry, this article will provide you with all the important information. Welcome!
Design and appearance
The appearance of the Sony PlayStation 5 is not easy to judge. Many people may like its unusual shape, combined with characteristic “ribbing” and subtle illumination, especially in an upright position. On the other hand, this same shape seems very bizarre, also due to its size. After all, the PlayStation 5 is the largest Sony console to date.
Things get more complicated when we decide to put the PS5 horizontally. In doing so, the console loses its original charm, becoming a rather eccentric device that not only attracts attention, but also usually does not fit into the environment. Another thing I don’t like about this eccentric design is the PS5 stand. It looks cleverly designed, rotatable and relatively simple, although I have the impression that it is too complex.
In a horizontal position, we insert the rack rails into the console, and this is enough for someone to catch on. In turn, vertically we have additional protection in the form of a screw, but the size of the PlayStation 5 itself raises some concerns, whether someone will accidentally turn it over.
Easy data transfer from PS4 to PS5
Since you can play titles from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, the ability to transfer saved games between consoles seemed obvious. One would think that this would probably be done via the cloud, although not everyone wants to pay for the PlayStation Plus service and therefore have access to a large online storage.
But, Sony decided to use a rather interesting solution – by connecting both of our consoles (you can connect with a cable or use the same WiFi network) and even transfer entire games to the PS5. Of course, this takes several hours (depending on the connection and the selected content), although it’s nice that such a solution already exists. Moreover, this saves the time it would take to download and reinstall individual saves from scratch.
Best of all, only the PlayStation 4 is not available during the process. On the PlayStation 5, you can play normally, browse system tabs or chat with friends, everything happens in the background. Of course, you can also use an external drive for data transfer, preferably the same one that you connected to the PlayStation 4.
Then you just need to connect it to the PlayStation 5 to transfer the games of interest, so that everything works right away. One important note – although you can log into the same account on PS5 and PS4 at the same time, a separate game is not possible in this case. Every time you launch a game on one of the consoles, everything is automatically paused on the other – protecting against possible sharing of one account.
New PS5 controller
DualSense, as the Sony PlayStation 5 controller is called, has the potential to completely transform the way you play. We can unleash its full potential by playing Astro’s Playroom, which is no coincidence in the memory of every console purchased. This game is a real feast for the amazing application of vibrations that provide players with a completely new, tactile sensation capable of transmitting rain, hail, or even the surfaces on which our character moves. In addition, there are adaptive triggers that give the impression of extremely real resistance, a built-in microphone (yes, the controller is now not only a speaker) and motion sensors.
Together they change the game on the PS5. Of course, the more tactile vibrations and adaptive triggers, the faster the controller’s battery will drain. This can be clearly seen in Playroom Astro, during one of my sessions, DualSense “worked” without recharging for only about 4 hours.
New and extensive interface
The fact that the PlayStation 5 will receive a completely new interface has been known for a long time. However, the amount of changes we have received is huge. In addition to the characteristic strip with names on the console, there is practically nothing left of the old interface. So, we have a redesigned menu for connecting with friends, a different loading and unloading screen, and a slightly different way to close games.
Access to the trophy list, notification screen, or battery preview of the controller connected to the console has also changed. This now requires us to press the PlayStation button to open a separate additional menu. In fact, even switching to rest mode or shutting down the PS5 requires a little more action than the previous generation.
Unfortunately, on the Sony PlayStation 5, we are running low on storage space. Although the custom SSD used here has a capacity of 825 GB, the console system takes up a large portion of it. We only had 667.2 GB at our disposal, which allowed me to store 12 games. These are not small titles, as the tests had to install games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us: Part 2, as well as the slightly smaller but significant Ghost of Tsushima, God of War and Days Gone. Despite the load, the SSD had a little free space (about 67 GB), which I could use, for example, for photos and videos.
Choose PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition?
Although only the more expensive version of the PS5 with a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive participated in my tests, it doesn’t differ much from the PS5 Digital Edition. There is no such difference here as between the Xbox Series X and Series S, because, unlike them, both PS5 versions are based on almost the same components. The only thing is the mentioned drive and price.
Should you buy?
If you are a PlayStation fan and are still in doubt whether to switch from PS4 or PS4 Pro to PS5, I have one piece of advice for you – don’t fuss or make excuses. Start your new adventure now.
