Design and appearance
Outwardly, the Samsung Galaxy A52s is absolutely no different from the Galaxy A52 , which is good. Design is one of the strengths of most Galaxy A and an important factor in the popularity of this line.
The A52s has a choice of four colors: black, white, purple and blue. The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, while the side frames and the back cover are made of plastic. The presence of IP67 protection pleases – the smartphone is not afraid of dust and water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. For comparison, most Xiaomi models in this segment only have basic IP53 splash protection, while other companies do not have that either.
Galaxy A52s measures 16.0 x 7.5 x 0.84 cm and weighs 189 grams. The bezels around the 6.5-inch display are small, and the front-facing camera sits in a hole in the middle. Above the screen there is a grill with an earpiece, which forms a pair with the main one. Optical fingerprint scanner – under the display.
Samsung Galaxy A52s side
The back cover of the Galaxy A52s is slightly rounded on all sides, and the purple tint looks great. The coating is matte, so no prints are visible. The module with cameras looks interesting: the three main sensors are located under each other in the left vertical row, and in the right – a macro lens and LED flash.
Samsung Galaxy A52s slot
The top side of the A52s houses a hybrid SIM and microSD slot, as well as one of the microphones. On the right are the power and volume keys. At the bottom is the USB-C port, main speaker and 3.5mm headphone jack. The presence of the latter is especially surprising – it is a rarity for phones with water protection.
The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G has a superb 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G screen
The maximum brightness in manual mode reaches 380 nits, and in automatic mode it reaches 800 nits. The lowest possible value is 1.7 nits, so there will be no discomfort when using your smartphone at night.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G screen cutout
There are two color profiles: Vivid with DCI-P3 coverage and Natural with sRGB coverage. With the accuracy of shades, everything is in order even with the first one – the colors are not too oversaturated, although there is a slight shift towards blue. The Natural Profile has even higher accuracy: the average deltaE is 1.8.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G display
In terms of refresh rates, the Galaxy A52s offers two modes: Standard (60Hz) and High (120Hz). In both cases, the frequency does not change depending on what is happening on the screen, which negatively affects the battery life.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G refresh rate
In High Frequency mode, 120Hz will be almost everywhere, including YouTube, Netflix and games. Of course, this does not mean that you will definitely see 120 fps in games – it all depends on the capabilities of the Adreno 642L GPU. There are also standard applications-exceptions, where you should not count on 120 Hz: Camera and Google Maps.

Finally, the Galaxy A52s 5G has HDR10, HDR10 +, HLG and L1 Widevine support. On services with streaming video content must be broadcast in HD + and HDR. True, there are problems with support – FullHD is available on Netflix, but HDR is not yet available.
Galaxy A52s 5G cameras
The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G has a standard set of cameras: the main 64 megapixel with optical stabilization, the ultra-wide-angle 12 megapixel with a 123-degree viewing angle, a 5 megapixel macro lens and a 5 megapixel depth sensor. Frontal resolution – 32 megapixels.
By default, the main sensor saves photos in 16 megapixel resolution, and the quality is normal. The dynamic range is normal for the mid-range segment, but noticeably wider on the more expensive models.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G shooting
The A52s 5G has an Auto HDR mode as well as AI-assisted scene optimization. Both functions are enabled by default and help with shooting, although sometimes in strong sunlight, the footage is too bright. Turning off the features will make the color temperature more moderate, and many will surely like this approach better.
There is no optical zoom – for this you need to buy the A72 model with a telephoto lens. However, the 2x digital zoom looks good on a smartphone screen and is quite usable.
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G wide angle camera
The 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera is commendable. Detail remains almost as high as when shooting with the main sensor, which is not always the case with models of the middle and budget segment. The only problem is the slightly different color temperature, which is not typical for Samsung.
Galaxy A52s 5G Software
Samsung smartphones are famous for their software, thanks to which many people choose them. One UI is one of the most popular skins for Android.
The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G runs One UI 3.1 on top of the Android 11 operating system. The company promises three years of major OS updates and four years of security updates – unique support for this price segment.

The lock screen now has a “digital wellbeing” widget, so you can immediately see if you are spending too much time in front of your smartphone screen. The unlocking itself is done through a fingerprint scanner under the display.
If you missed a notification, you can find it in the Notification History – this is a feature introduced in Android 11. It is located quite far away in Settings, but you are still unlikely to use this feature too often.
It has become easier to communicate with other people in messengers – dialogs are in small “bubbles” on the screen, so you don’t need to open the application every time. For easy multitasking, applications can be placed in floating windows.
The Galaxy A52s 5G also has many features from Samsung: for example, Music Share, which was previously only available on flagships. The function allows you to play music through a Bluetooth speaker connected to your friend’s Samsung smartphone.
Galaxy A52s 5G performance
The main drawback of the Galaxy A52 was the Snapdragon 750G – not bad, but too weak for this price segment. In the Samsung Galaxy A52s, the company has supplied a more powerful Snapdragon 778G.
The chipset is made using a 6nm process technology and runs on eight Kryo 670 cores: four at 2.4 GHz and four more at 1.9 GHz. Adreno 642L is used as an accelerator. RAM can be 8 or 12 GB, and internal memory – 128 or 256 GB. If necessary, the volume of the latter can be increased via a microSD memory card.
Outcome Galaxy A52s 5G
The Galaxy A line continues to be one of the most interesting if you’re looking for a mid-range smartphone. The new Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is not much different from the original A52, but the performance issue is solved here thanks to the Snapdragon 778G processor.
There is protection against water, and software support will be at least three years. Of course, Samsung has many competitors, but the Korean company continues to produce reliable, high quality smartphones.
