Realme GT Neo 5G Retail Price in Pakistan 2021: Realme Neo 5G Review
If you are looking for a smartphone with a great value for money, the Realme GT Neo 5G is one of the very best options out there today. The company is known for its “flagship killer” – the new GT Neo is an example of that.
The smartphone boasts a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor, a 120Hz Super AMOLED screen and good cameras. RAM at least 8 GB, when half of the battery power is restored in just 20 minutes. More importantly, prices for the GT Neo 5G from Realme start at just 45,000 rupees.
Design and appearance
Many of the latest Realme smartphones have a so-called two-tone design: a monotone back cover with a stripe in a different color. The same solution can be seen on the Realme GT Neo 5G.
Alas, the traditional inscription Dare to Leap has not gone anywhere, although here it is not so big. Unfortunately, the matte and glossy areas on the back are easy to get dirty. This is especially noticeable on the coloring – “Black Asteroid”, although the problem is relevant for the versions of “Silver Mercury” and “Milky Way”. On the other hand, the gadget fits comfortably in the hand and does not slip.
Since the GT Neo 5G is only splash-proof, you need to be careful with the water. Although the case is made of plastic, it is securely assembled and weighs only 179 grams. The bezels around the screen are small, as is the hole for the front camera in the upper left corner. The module with the cameras on the back also does not seem huge, and the design is generally nice, unpretentious.
The power key is on the right side of the smartphone, the volume buttons are on the left. They are positioned at a comfortable height and are pressed with pleasant feedback. The slot for two nano-SIM cards is just above the volume keys, the microSD card compartment is not.
Above was only an additional microphone, below – a USB-C port, main microphone, 3.5 mm headphone jack and a downward-facing speaker. Together with the spoken word, it forms a stereo pair. There is also an optical fingerprint scanner under the screen that works flawlessly.
The 6.43-inch Super AMOLED screen is one of the main advantages of the Realme GT Neo 5G. The panel is made by Samsung, supports 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch layer polling rate.
The maximum brightness in manual mode reaches 435 nits, while in automatic mode it reaches 1000 nits. There are three color profiles. The default is Vivid, almost completely covering the DCI-P3 space. Profile Soft corresponds to the sRGB space, providing highly accurate shades. Economical – Reduces the intensity of colors to save some battery power.
In theory, the 120Hz refresh rate is high, in fact, a lot depends on how the software is implemented, although Realme has always had problems with this. As practice has shown, not a single game had a frame rate higher than 60 fps. Of course, you can still enjoy the smooth operation of the interface and all other applications, but I would like to see the optimization of games.
There are three refresh rate modes available: 60Hz, 120Hz and Automatic. The first is the easiest of all – 60 Hz will be absolutely everywhere, in all applications. The second mode also seems immediately obvious, in fact, 120 Hz is not always available. Aside from gaming, you won’t get 120Hz on apps like TikTok. On the other hand, when watching a video, 120 Hz will remain, which will waste battery power.
The Auto mode, which is supposed to change the refresh rate in accordance with what is happening on the display, works a little differently. The refresh rate of 120 Hz will be everywhere, except for applications specified in the list of operating system settings. In all other cases, even if you watch a video, the frequency will not decrease.
GT Neo 5G Cameras
The main camera of the Realme GT Neo 5G is a 64MP (f / 1.8) Sony IMX682 sensor, unfortunately without OIS and autofocus. It is assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f / 2.3) and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front camera of the IMX471 shoots at full 16MP resolution.
In daylight, the GT Neo 5G’s main camera takes good photos. The detail is high, there is little noise, but it is a little noticeable. The colors are rich, natural, although the color temperature can change, even shifting towards red hues. It should be said right away that the camera falls short of the flagship level here, however, it shoots quite well for the average level.
There is an AI (artificial intelligence) enhancement mode that increases the saturation of the colors in the image. You can even shoot in 64MP, although such files take up a lot of space. On the other hand, the detail is also higher, especially under difficult conditions.
The Realme GT Neo 5G does not have a separate telephoto lens, although the app has digital zoom up to 10x. At 2x magnification, the photos look surprisingly good when, in terms of clarity, you can barely see the difference. Even a 5x result looks good, although at 10x the blur is evident.
A significant advantage of the Realme GT Neo 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G processor. This is the most powerful chipset in the line today, and its performance is really high.
Dimensity 1200 consists of eight cores, four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55. One core A78 is the main one and is capable of overclocking up to 3.0 GHz, which in single-threaded tasks gives a significant increase in performance.
In tests, the Dimensity 1200 is inferior to the competing Snapdragon 888 and 865. GeekBench 5 gives the smartphone a 967/2614 score in single-core and multi-core modes, respectively. For example, Realme GT 5G on Snapdragon 888 had 1139/3555 points.
The nine cores of the Mali-G77 accelerator are responsible for the graphics here, which do their job well. In GFX Manhattan ES 3.0 (offscreen 1080p), the test GT Neo 5G achieves 129 fps, better than most competitors.
The battery capacity of the Realme GT Neo 5G is 4500 mAh – which is not so much by modern standards, although it is acceptable for a relatively compact smartphone.
Even taking into account the powerful processor, the phone shows good results in autonomy. A single battery charge will provide you with 12 hours of daily tasks or 17 hours of continuous video.
Fast charging with SuperDart technology and 50W adapter, recovers 50% of battery power in just 20 minutes, when it reaches 100% in an hour.
