Oppo Reno 4 pro overview

The Oppo Reno 4 Pro is an upper mid-range smartphone. The equipment highlights are quickly named with a Snapdragon 765G, 65 watt charging speed, 90 Hertz AMOLED display and an OIS-supported Sony IMX586 main sensor.

The price for the Oppo Reno 4 Pro is already quite steep in China and we would be very happy if Oppo brings this device to Pakistan for 70,000. The Oppo Reno 4 Pro may have the perfect mix of the latest technology and features that you want these days.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro Review summary

Design and processing The Oppo Reno 4 Pro is without a doubt a very high quality smartphone. In the hand, the device immediately creates a premium feeling. Oppo has come up with something very special for the back.

The back of the glass is roughened using a special process and is not only pleasant to the touch, but also resistant to grease streaks and fingerprints. The Reno 4 Pro measures 159.6 x 72.5 x 7.6 millimeters and weighs only 172 grams .

The frame is made of metal and the rounded back and front merge seamlessly into the frame. As usual, opinions differ with the curved display, because unwanted touch commands are often the result in practice. With the Reno 4 Pro, I can dispel these concerns and what remains is a stylish, perfectly processed smartphone with one of the hottest backs in recent years.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro display

In the Reno 4 Pro, Oppo relies on an uncompromising 6.5 inch AMOLED display with a fast frame rate of 90 Hertz. With a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels , you get razor-sharp content with 402 pixels per inch. The display-to-case ratio is comparatively high due to the thin bezels and the curved design (Oppo states 93.4%).

As is typical for AMOLED, the contrast is almost infinite and deep black is also a pleasure for videos. The always-on display can be configured to show notifications or just to show the time and costs 1% battery per hour.

The measured brightness is a maximum of 800cd / m² and ensures very good readability outdoors. We couldn’t measure the theoretical boost of 1100 that Oppo states in the specifications, even in direct sunlight. If the typical AMOLED colors seem too strong for you, you can also switch to the Gentle color mode.

Independent of this setting, the color temperature can be continuously regulated from warm to cold. The display of the Oppo Reno 4 Pro could just as well be in a flagship and the viewing angle stability is also excellent. Oppo has also thought of the DC dimming option for sensitive users.

Oppo Reno 4 pro performance review

The Oppo Reno 4 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 765G and we already know the processor from the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G . The Octa-Core SoC is characterized by its integrated 5G modem and easily cracks the 300,000 point mark in the Antutu benchmark.

The chip is manufactured using the seven nanometer process and comes with an Adreno 620 graphics unit with a maximum frequency of 625 MHz. A prime core with 2.4 GHz clock and a gold core with 2.2 GHz clock also ensure proper performance in the system.

For less demanding tasks, 6 power-saving Cortex-A55 cores with 1.8 GHz clock are responsible. In practice, there is no game that the Oppo Reno 4 Pro does not play smoothly. The performance in the system is really good and the 8 or 12GB RAM ensure that the Reno 4 Pro does not run out of breath even with several apps in the background.

The 8GB LPDDR4X RAM in our test device achieved a very solid transfer rate of 30GB / s. The memory is well sized at 128GB, but it cannot be easily expanded. The read / write rate of 953/464 MB / s is on a very good level for UFS 2.1 memory.

Oppo Reno 4 pro Camera

First of all, kudos to Oppo, because the back is “only” equipped with 3 sensors and all of them have a useful function. The Oppo Reno 4 Pro does not need useless 2 megapixel sensors, even if the manufacturer can now only speak of a triple camera setup.

The main camera is a well-known Sony IMX586 with a large f / 1.7 lens opening and optical stabilization (OIS). In addition, there is a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle camera with f / 2.2 lens opening and a 13 megapixel telephoto sensor with 2X zoom and f / 2.4 opening.

This completes the rear camera system and a powerful Sony IMX616 32 megapixel sensor on the front ensures beautiful selfies. The Oppo Reno 4 Pro works with a laser autofocus, which always focuses quickly and accurately on photos and videos.
