Huawei P Smart 2021 Review: P Smart 2021 Price in Pakistan, Full specifications and Pros & Cons
Huawei P Smart 2021 Price in Pakistan is: 44,000
The new Huawei P Smart 2021 is a mid-range offering. What can a smartphone do, and for whom will it be a great purchase? I spent the previous week testing the new Huawei device.
The P Smart 2021 is a phone you don’t have to pay too much for, but does it offer the most important benefits to the target customer? You will learn about this and much more in my review.
Packaging and specifications of Huawei P Smart 2021
A simple, white cardboard box hides the P Smart 2021 from us. While other manufacturers focus on at least two key packaging elements, here Huawei offers one. When we buy a smartphone, we only get a modular charger (22.5W) and a USB-A to USB-C cable. The remaining space is taken up by scrap paper and a clip for the SIM tray with MicroSD. Other accessories are not offered, which is a pity, because there is still room for a case here.
Design and build quality
That said, you shouldn’t have any complaints about the quality of the fit – this also applies to well-spaced physical keys. I got my hands on the black version, which may seem very simple, but its black color is elegant and stands out from the competition. The natural glossy casing is easy to get dirty, although the print streaks are not very noticeable. The curved back surface with relatively flat edges makes the smartphone comfortable to hold in the hand both vertically and horizontally.
Although there is no case included, the model in question has a factory-made film on the screen. The display is surrounded by frames with a typical thickness for the class of devices – there is nothing strange about that. In front there is a hole for the camera and earpiece. A barely protruding main camera module catches the eye from behind. The silver bezel adds a touch of elegance, while the lens arrangement, lettering and middle LED flash directly refer to the more expensive Huawei models.
Huawei must be given credit for its separate dual SIM and microSD card slots. The headphone jack is also traditionally commendable. The same goes for the fingerprint scanner, which correctly and quickly recognizes the user. The speaker, however, is average in sound quality.
Display and image quality
A year ago, I would have considered the Huawei P Smart 2021 display to be completely excellent, although it is still quite good today. What has changed is that the screens of today’s competitors offer something more. Possibly OLED technology, HDR10 certification, and some with higher refresh rates.
Huawei has not taken any of the modern directions, so we are dealing with an average quality IPS LCD panel. The colors are correct here, although you may notice that the blacks look gray. Contrast or brightness is not bad, however, technology has gone further and the P Smart 2021 remains.
P Smart 2021 cameras
The Huawei camera app works as it should. The company made sure that the transitions between modes did not slow down much, and the modes themselves worked without problems. Of course, some of the options are a little bloated, although those that are less commonly used are hidden in a dedicated menu. What’s interesting for this class of devices is the AI (AI – Artificial Intelligence) mode, which rightly recommends that we switch to special settings. So when it comes to ergonomics and all kinds of variety, everything is fine here.
Why not use a wide angle lens? Mainly due to the limited brightness – at night nothing is visible at all, during the day there are few details. You shouldn’t look for additional stabilization in the video either. Obviously, the P Smart 2021 is a smartphone for people who do not expect much from cameras, but can only take pictures or videos from time to time.
Huawei P Smart 2021 can shoot video in 720p (30 fps), 1080p (30 and 60 fps) and 720p slow-motion (120 fps, 480 fps). The lack of 4K support indirectly confirms that the model in question works on the previous generation optics.
The Huawei P Smart 2021 sits somewhere between budget and mid-range models (like the P40 Lite) in Huawei’s portfolio. However, according to the software it is imperceptible, the device received the most important additions known in EMUI. Let’s forget about Google services, which we won’t see here.
However, the increasingly extensive Petal Search Engine makes it easy to find important apps that are not available in AppGallery and works seamlessly with Huawei’s mobile services. They even have their own voice assistant. Huawei clearly wants to show that there is no need to worry about the lack of applications, so we receive various suggestions at almost every stage of interaction with the interface.
Inside the P Smart 2021 is a Kirin 710A processor (4 × Cortex-A73 2.0 GHz + 4 × Cortex-A53 1.7 GHz). This phone is not a speed monster, which you will notice when doing multiple tasks, although the actual performance does not cause serious problems. Yes, for the same amount of money, you can get a better chipset, but Huawei has equipped the device with several other perks that may be far more important to some users.
Together with the aforementioned processor, we have 4 GB of RAM, which is the minimum value for Android today, so we have to forget about the complete freedom of multitasking. Some of the applications have to be restarted when certain actions (calling the messenger) take too long.
In more complex tasks, you can see that the processing power of the Huawei P Smart 2021 is low, while the device heats up. It is not a smartphone for special tasks, although web browsing, watching videos and playing games with less demanding graphics work without problems. Of course, you have to reckon with longer loading times and not expect much – background processes close pretty quickly.
Autonomy Huawei P Smart 2021
Today we are used to expect powerful batteries from relatively cheap smartphones. Huawei fits into this trend, because the P Smart 2021 allows you to work for a long time without a connected charger, thanks to the 5000 mAh battery. Two days of autonomy – under a calm scenario. Means 8.5 hours of leisurely work – web browser + YouTube, Excel, Word and simple games, or 4 hours of interactions in full. As part of the latter use case, you must also take into account the heating of the panel around the cameras, which is indirectly related to the older, i.e. high lithography of the integrated processor. Meanwhile, it takes a little more than an hour and a half to charge, when after 30 minutes we get more than 40%.
Should you buy?
Huawei’s P Smart 2021 is definitely a good deal for people looking for a beautiful phone with battery life and optimized software, without Google services.
