What is wireless charging?

How does the wireless charging function work?

The electrical current is converted into a magnetic field in the charging station. If you place the smartphone on the station, this energy is absorbed, converted back into electrical energy in the coil inside the smartphone and the battery is charged .
Since more energy can be transferred via the direct connection from the charging cable to the socket, wireless charging usually takes a little longer than with a cable. However, the speed also depends on how many watts the cell phone can be charged wirelessly and how much the charging station allows.
However, technical developments ensure that wireless charging works faster and faster , and charging is faster compared to older models that can only be charged with a cable.
What is the Qi standard?
As part of the development of the wireless charging function, the Wireless Power Consortium – an amalgamation of various electronics manufacturers such as Nokia, Sony and Samsung, which are dedicated to the further development of wireless charging – already agreed in 2008 on Qi technology as the standard for wireless energy transmission.

The term “Qi” comes from Chinese and means something like “life energy”. Most mobile phones that can be charged wirelessly are now equipped with the Qi standard , which has had a major technical impact on this function.
