With a voice profile, Alexa can differentiate between different users and adapt the content accordingly. You can find out what advantages an Alexa voice profile has, how you can set it up and delete it again in our step-by-step instructions.

Since the end of 2018, Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa has been able to recognize voices and differentiate between individual users. In this way, she can access your personal language profile and customize content. Setting up an Alexa voice profile is of course only useful if Alexa is used by several people in a household. After all, the language assistant should learn different voices in order to provide individual content to suit the person currently acting.

An Alexa voice profile offers these advantages

An Amazon Echo profile makes sense to use the smart speaker with several users and still be able to make individual settings and receive notifications. In this way, child-safe profiles with restricted content can also be created.

With an Alexa voice profile, however, the user experience can be made even more personal and some functions can be customized. With an active voice profile, you only receive the messages addressed to you, Alexa skips the messages you have already heard in the daily summary or adjusts the playback of your voice if you use an Amazon Music family subscription. You can also set that only people with a registered voice profile can place orders on Amazon. The purchases are then assigned to the vote and placed in the appropriate shopping cart.

Create an Alexa voice profile

First, you have to teach Alexa your voice so that she can learn and recognize it with the appropriate Echo device. First set up a voice profile via the app:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Tap the three-line menu in the top left and select Settings from here .
  3. Now select the menu item Alexa account .
  4. Tap Registered Voices .
  5. To create a voice profile, tap your vote and then select Agree made to continue.
  6. Say “Alexa, learn my voice” to begin the process. You now have to repeat ten sentences to teach Alexa your voice. To check whether the detection was successful, ask “Alexa, who am I?” .

Of course, setting up a voice profile only makes sense if at least a second profile is added. To do this, you need the Alexa app on another smartphone or you have to log out of the device you are already using and log in again with another account that also has access to the Echo device you are using. Now follow the steps above.

Delete Alexa voice profile

If you want to remove a voice profile, you can do this in just a few steps using the Alexa app:

  1. Open the Alexa app.
  2. Tap on More and select Settings from here .
  3. Now select the menu item Alexa account .
  4. Tap Registered Voices , then tap your voice .
  5. Select Delete my voice to remove your voice profile.
