Apple Becomes Number 1 Smartphone Company in 2020
Earlier at the end of 2019 Apple was on no 3 in top smartphone selling brands
In fact, Apple announced yesterday that in the fourth quarter of 2019, the company broke all old revenue records. From October to December 2019, Apple shipped 70.7 million iPhones worldwide, while the number of Samsung smartphones stood at 68.8 million.
According to the report, Apple topped the global smartphone market share with 19 percent this quarter, Samsung second and Huawei with 15 percent share.
And this is because of the success of Apple’s iPhone 11, which people liked and overall, the company sold 7% more phones in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Overall, Samsung has been ranked number one in sales of smartphones in 2019, while Huawei is second, Apple third, Xiaomi fourth, Oppo ranked 5th.
Huawei is the world’s second-largest smartphone company in 2019, but the effects of US sanctions have begun to wane.
During the nine months of 2019, Huawei’s phone sales saw an increase, but the fourth quarter saw a 7.4% decline compared to the last quarter of 2018.
Overall smartphone sales saw a slight decline in 2019 and stood at 2.2% compared to 2018.
Huawei is working on its operating system and services, but the company suffered a drop in sales of phones in the last quarter of last year as a result of depriving Google of apps.
But the company said in its new statement that it still wants to use Google services in its phones.
The statement surfaced when Huawei’s country manager Fred Wang Fai in an interview said that the company would not go back to Google services even after US sanctions were lifted.
He said that Huawei no longer wants to rely on US politics, which could cause problems for the company in the future.
But shortly after this statement, Huawei also issued a defining statement.
According to technology site The Verge, “Open Android ecosystems, including Google Mobile Services, are still our priority, but if we cannot use them we have the ability to build our ecosystem.”
Huawei can still use the Android operating system because it is open source but cannot add Google services to its phones.
