PTA urges phone users to register 2nd imei no of smartphones

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has asked mobile phone users to register second imei no of their mobile phones. Generally, this new order applies on the customers who have dual sim mobile phone. For readers’ information it is important to tell that dual sim mobile phones have two imeis. Although, both imeis numbers are registered in GSMA, but pta also wants to register in its system.
Earlier, the campaign to stop illegal practice of mobile phone import, pta took quite serious steps. It informed public through a comprehensive awareness program. Pta also blocked various mobile phones who were not registered in its system. Once the given date of phone registration expired, pta blocked all unregistered smartphones and other cellular devices.
Now, it has released its latest press release in which pta has asked phone users to register second imei number too. It is especially for those phone users who have dual sim facility. For instance, if they have registered single sim imei, but not registered second imei, they have only few days for pta device verification.
What is the method to register second imei number in pta?
If you have dual sim phone, and your second imei number is not registered, follow these steps:
- Take screenshots of device showing programmed imei
- Copy of owner cnic
- Screenshot of device box imei printed
- Contact details of phone owner
