Design and display: hardly distinguishable on the outside
The two Reno cell phones are almost identical in their external appearance. Both devices are rounded and the main camera on the back is arranged vertically, in the form of a rectangle. Only the front of the Pro model looks a little more modern. The reason for this is the almost borderless display and the punch-hole notch in the upper left corner. The Reno4 also has a notch. It is also built into the left corner, but a little longer. In addition, the Reno4 Pro is slightly larger at 6.5 inches than the Reno4, which has a screen diagonal of 6.4 inches.
OPPO uses an AMOLED display with a Full HD Plus resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels for both devices. Only the refresh rate makes the differences between the screens clear. While the Reno4 Pro uses 90 Hertz, the Reno4 has to make do with 60 frames per second. The standard model is protected with Gorilla Glass 3. The Pro version is more stable with Gorilla Glass 5.

Performance: Same processor, different memory
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G is the processor of choice for both OPPO phones. As the name suggests, it works with a 5G modem and equips the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro optimally for the fast cellular standard. The chip has eight cores and clocks at a frequency of up to 2.4 GHz. In terms of RAM, however, the Pro version has the lead. The manufacturer installs 12 GB here. In the Reno4, however, OPPO only spent 8 GB. Both configurations ensure smooth images and can also cope with demanding apps. However, the Reno4 reaches its limits a little earlier.
The pre-installed operating system on both smartphones is the in-house ColorOS 7.2, which is based on Android 10.
Camera: Reno4 Pro – a little bit better
Just like the design, the main cameras of the two OPPO phones differ only slightly. The manufacturer installs a triple camera in both devices. The three lenses in the Reno4 have a resolution of 48 + 8 + 2 megapixels, the camera of the Reno4 Pro snaps impressive photos with 48 + 12 + 13 megapixels. Both China phones offer the ability to record videos in 4K. Thanks to slow motion, night mode, super wide-angle sensor and other settings, the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro can be used to take first-class photos and videos.
The front camera of the Reno4, however, can set itself apart from the selfie cam of the Reno4 Pro. Instead of a mono lens with a resolution of 32 megapixels, as used in the Pro version, the standard model has a dual camera. With 32 + 2 megapixels, chic selfies are the main program of the Reno4.

Battery and memory: similar, but not exactly the same
The difference in the battery capacity of the two OPPO smartphones is around 20 mAh – so it’s hardly worth mentioning. The Reno4 does a little better because of the minimal difference on paper and has an energy volume of 4,020 mAh. The OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G, on the other hand, manages with 4,000 mAh. With average use, both cell phones should easily get through the day.
The clearest difference between the OPPO Reno4 5G and the OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G is the storage capacity that the Chinese manufacturer provides for the two smartphones. In the standard version of the cell phone you have 128 GB of space for photos, images, documents and apps. In the Pro version, you can save around twice as much media thanks to 256 GB of internal storage. There is no option for retrofitting in either of the two smartphones, should the space run out.
Conclusion: differences only under the microscope
The OPPO Reno4 5G and the OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G are almost identical. The few differences can, however, influence the purchase decision in one direction or the other. With a little more RAM, the Reno4 Pro can handle compute-intensive apps longer than the Reno4. The dual front camera, on the other hand, is a little better equipped in the standard version.
The Pro model, on the other hand, offers twice the storage capacity. So if you want to save and install a lot of pictures, videos and apps, you should reach for the Pro. Just like those who like to play complex games. Investing in the Reno4 is worthwhile for those who value chic selfies or who want to spend a little less money and can manage with half the storage capacity.
