OnePlus Nord CE 5G price in Pakistan 2021: Nord CE Review & Specifications

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G smartphone is the new king of the mid-budget segment, as advertised by OnePlus. The model is a simplified version of the original Nord, which is reflected in the ending – CE, stands for Core Edition, a phone with basic functions.

The design of the Nord CE 5G is almost exactly the same as the OnePlus Nord, even the basic specifications are almost the same. The smartphone costs about 25 thousand rubles, while it seems like a good choice for that kind of money. We get a 90Hz OLED display and a Snapdragon 750G processor in a compact 170g package. The main camera shoots in 64-megapixel resolution, and the components are powered by a 4500 mAh battery.

Design and appearance

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is compact in size – outwardly it is very similar to the previous Nord model, but much smaller and lighter. OnePlus notes that this is the company’s thinnest phone since the 6T.

The case weighs only 170 grams and is 7.9 mm thick. The design is pretty simple – no huge camera modules or rounded edges. The matte back panel is made of plastic, although it feels different in the hands, the blue color I tested looks very attractive.

Since the Nord CE 5G smartphone is quite thin, the rear camera module protrudes noticeably from the rest of the surface. The back cover itself is slightly rounded towards the sides, which contributes to a better grip and comfortable holding of the device. The matte surface, which does not slip in the hand, also helps.

The front camera is located in the hole in the upper left corner of the screen, in my opinion, it could be smaller. On the left side are the volume keys and a slot for two SIM-cards (microSD is not supported). The right side is occupied only by the power button, and the bottom is occupied by a 3.5 mm headphone jack, speaker and USB-C port.

The fingerprint scanner is optical here, it is located under the screen, in a slightly underestimated place – my finger was always in its most natural position.

Smartphone screen

While the screens of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the regular Nord are similar, there are a number of differences. The tested model does not have support for HDR10 technology, although it has a refresh rate of 90 Hz with full sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage.

The 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display has a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels at an aspect ratio of 20: 9. The maximum brightness in manual mode is 430 nits, and in automatic mode it is 610 nits. By default, the “Saturated” color profile is active, the accuracy of the shades of which is not the best, so I advise you to switch to “Natural” in order to remove the obvious bias towards blue tones. The average dE2000 would then be only 2.2, which means a fairly high accuracy.

Pleases the presence of a refresh rate of 90 Hz and its automatic switching, when watching a video, it will drop to 60 Hz, which saves energy. The same thing happens when you stop interacting with the panel, however, tap and the frequency will return to 90 Hz.

Nord CE 5G Cameras

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G smartphone has three main cameras – there is no low-resolution macro lens, which in most cases is added for advertising purposes.

The main camera shoots at 64MP with an aperture of f / 1.8, although there is no optical stabilization. The second sensor is 8MP, ultra-wide angle with a viewing angle of 119 degrees, and the third lens is a depth sensor for portraits. The front camera is 16-megapixel with an aperture of f / 2.5.

The shooting quality of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G is quite standard for the price segment. The detailing is good, there is little noise, the dynamic range is wide. Sometimes, the sharpness can be excessive, and the shades shift towards blue. The full 64-megapixel mode does not offer much benefit, although the detail becomes higher. This comes at the price of more noticeable degradation in sharpness, increased noise, and the huge size of the resulting files.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G should receive major software updates for at least two years, and three years for security updates. If you buy a smartphone now, you will even try Android 13.

This is a year less than the company’s flagships, but still not bad. OxygenOS looks nice, although it has gone quite far from pure Android. The notification panel and most of the menus have been optimized for one-handed use, with many elements now positioned below. This also applies to a number of standard applications like Gallery or Clock.

Calls now use an app from Google instead of OnePlus. Strange because the OnePlus version was more comfortable and more in tune with the OxygenOS design. The always-on screen mode is also available to us. There is also the so-called Ambient display, which displays the information you need when you pick up your smartphone or press the screen.

Since the smartphone runs on Android 11, all the new functions of the system are available: one-time issuance of permissions to applications, “bubbles” for instant messengers and other features.

OxygenOS has a well thought-out energy efficiency optimization. There is control over the work of background applications, the system itself remembers the time when you charge the phone. If this is done at night, the system will replenish the last part of the charge just before you unplug.

The fingerprint scanner supports the Quick Launch function – if you hold your finger on the sensor, the previously specified application will open. There are several modes available for different tasks and applications – to choose between them, slide your finger to the right or left while holding it on the screen.

Another interesting feature is gestures when the display is active. You can control music playback or launch programs by drawing letters on the lock screen. Zen Mode blocks any calls and notifications for a specified period. The ability to make or receive emergency calls remains, and each time you turn on Zen Mode, you earn virtual points.

Component performance

The new OnePlus Nord CE 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor, which is an upgrade to the Snapdragon 732G.

Eight cores, divided into two clusters: two Kryo 570s at 2.2 GHz and six Kryo 570s at 1.8 GHz. Graphics tasks are performed by Adreno 619. There are three versions of RAM – 6, 8 or 12 GB, the size of the internal storage is only 128 or 256 GB, and there is no microSD slot.

In performance tests, the Nord CE performs roughly the same as the original Nord. Geekbench 5 showed a result of 641/1812 points, the last one – 610/1953. The GFX Car Chase ES 3.1 graphics test gives the smartphone – 19 fps.

The Snapdragon 750G performs well even when compared to the more powerful Snapdragon 765G. However, in graphics tasks, the 750G is naturally inferior. In general, the performance of the Nord CE is okay.
